Selection Procedure

The selection process of the RRB group ‘ D ‘ recruitment comprises of the following three stages:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT) : This would be an online test of 90 minutes and will have 100 multiple choice questions.
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET) : In this, a candidate’s physical capabilities will be tested by means of some tasks. These would be different for men and women.
  • Document Verification

There will be negative marking for incorrect answers in the CBT. 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

There will be negative marking for incorrect answers in the CBT. 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks in CBT

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories:

  • Unreserved – 40%
  • OBC – 30%
  • SC – 30%
  • ST – 30%

This percentage of marks for eligibility would be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates in case of shortage of PWD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

Exam Pattern : Physical Efficiency Test

Based on the merit of the candidates in the CBT, candidates will be called for PET; the number would be two times the community-wise total vacancy of the posts notified against RRBs. Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature.

Physical Efficiency Test For Women

  • Should be able to lift and carry 20 kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down
  • Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

Physical Efficiency Test For Men

  • Should be able to lift and carry 35 kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down
  • Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance

RRB ALP Exam Pattern & Selection Procedure

RRB ALP selection will be based on 4 stages as follows:

  • 1. First stage CBT
  • 2. Second stage CBT
  • 3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (only for ALP)
  • 4. Document Verification

Railways RRB ALP – 1st Stage CBT

The First Stage CBT is of screening nature & will be of the following pattern:

Railways RRB ALP – 2nd Stage CBT

The Second Stage CBT shall have two parts viz Part A and Part B as detailed below

  • There shall be negative marking in 1st & 2nd Stage CBT.
  • 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • On qualifying 2nd Stage CBT, you will have to appear for Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)followed by Document Verification.
  • There shall be no negative marking for Computer Based Aptitude Test (3rd Stage).
  • The Computer Based Aptitude Test shall have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi.
  • If you are applying for Technicians then you will be directly called for Document Verification after both the stages of CBT.

Railways RRB ALP – Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

  • Only for candidates who have opted for ALP
  • Qualifying marks:
  • You need to secure minimum 42 marks in each of the ‘test of batteries’ to qualify.
  • This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.

Railways RRB ALP – Document Verification

If you qualify both the stages of CBT in case of Technicians & both stages of CBT and CBAT in case of ALP then you will be invited for Document Verification

Railways RRB ALP – Final Selection

The ALP Merit List will be drawn from the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer Based Aptitude Test.
